Practicing Kindness
and Authenticity
When I hear music, my brain has always put in harmonies instead of singing along in unison. I’m always thinking about what could be added to make it more impactful. I’ve developed a love of making music sound better through mixing with Logic Pro and Pro Tools; I’ve come a long way from the Fostex X-28H 4 track cassette recorder I used years ago.
For 10 years, I led a healing dance event called DanceJourney. With new and old friends, we would improvise music for a couple hours and people would improvise dancing with us, creating a wonderful energy wheel. I remember that I never wanted to play any chords or music I knew, wanted it all to come from deep within. It was joyously wonderful, into the wild blue abandon!
When I was a child, our neighbor, Mrs Hahn, always remarked about how much she heard me whistling. And in second grade I came home with a report card that said: Louie is doing well in school, but he needs to stop making noises with his mouth (my sister will verify and I am happy to demonstrate :)
Music has always been a huge part of my life, though usually I struggled to put as much time into it as I would have liked. I chose a family and an engineering career, and both have been incredibly rewarding. I am able now to put less time into engineering and I am thrilled to be able to put more of my life energy into making music!
